How To Protect a Woodburned Art

September 28, 2025

Picture this, you bought a handmade piece of artwork and you hung it in a favorite place. Just a word of caution, when your dealing with certain types of artwork, the placement of it does matter. I found out the hard way that wood burned art is different from other forms of art. Preservation of it is important. I had put a piece of my art in a display window and when the art was returned to me, a month later, it was all faded and literally ruined. I did manage to salvage it, but thats another story. My point being, if you buy a piece of woodburned art, do not place it in direct sunlight or where the sun's rays can fade it. I tend to protect all my sold pieces with some type of finish, whether that be clear coat acrylic, poly-urthane, or varnish. Its a real disappointment if you don't know in advance about preservation. I'm hoping this knowledge helps. This way you can enjoy your art piece for years to come.
